Glenn Priestley: Paintings and Drawings, features the work of internationally exhibited artist Glenn Priestley. The text includes an essay by arts writer and professor emeritus, Virgil Hammock; the artist’s observations on his own work; a comprehensive artist’s CV as well as a selection of paintings and drawings from the last 25 years of Glenn Priestley’s career. The book was developed as a collaborative research project conducted by STU students under the direction of Prof. William Forrestall. Sanctuary: Seek-Keep-Care: The Art of Ann Manuel
Sanctuary: Seek-Keep-Care: The Art of Ann Manuel includes an in-depth interview between the artist Ann Manuel and St. Thomas University students, a critical essay by the curator Christiana Myers, and a foreword by noted artist Amy Ash.
The book features a series of selected images covering the recent work of the artist as a “mindful act of looking and listening to the world around and within us.”
Ann Manuel’s work has been exhibited internationally and is currently featured in two separate exhibitions at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. There is a War – The Drawings of Stephen Lack
A book by STU students on the drawings of the New York based Canadian artist Stephen Lack will have its first Canadian public launch at the Toronto International Art Fair; October 26th.
The 136 page book “There is a War” was developed by the FNAR 2313a Painting class with Prof. William Forrestall and published by Xeno-Optic press with the assistance of the Office of Research Services St. Thomas University, and support from Senvest Collection of New Canadian Art (Montreal).
The students researched the background of Stephen Lack, contributing both to the design and open form interview featured in the text “There is a War”, along with essays by Dr. Ronald Edsforth of Dartmouth College and Prof. Emeritus Virgil Hammock of Mt. Allison University.
Stephen Lack was born in Montreal, and became a seminal figure in the East Village art renaissance of the 1980s. His work has been featured in over 50 solo exhibitions and numerous public collections. He is also known as filmmaker, working with David Cronenberg, and others on over 10 feature films. Cronenberg also provided an endorsement for the book.
